5 WAYS I FIGHT INFLAMMATION (besides eating kale)

NBD just living in saunas this season…

Since being diagnosed with MS, I follow an anti-inflammatory diet (Wahls Protocol specifically) but I also integrated *THESE* tools into my routine. Building consistency has shown MAJOR improvements on my mental and physical wellness and maybe one will resonate with you!

SAUNA/COLD THERAPY• my fave way to reduce/manage inflammation. Plus SO many other benefits like boosting the immune system, skin health, detoxing heavy metals and chemicals (you’d be surprised how much you’re exposed to everyday just from food and environment.) Don’t have a Sauna or cold plunge? Me either. I basically only got a gym membership to use the sauna so that’s an option, take a hot bath, opt in for a cold shower, roll around in the snow. Whatever’s clever!

MOVEMENT• yoga + strength training are hugely impactful for me. Whatever movement looks like to you in this season of life - 15 minute flows on your living room floor, walks on your lunch break. Something is better than nothing and starting is the first step! Beyond getting stronger, I was surprised at how much more mental clarity I felt and lower stress/anxiety after integrating movement on a daily basis. (Yes, I know ‘they’ tell you that but somethings you just have to learn on your own)!

MINDFULNESS• stress is a HUGE contributor to inflammation. Meditation, therapy, setting boundaries, ‘trimming the fat’. IE. letting go of things that no longer serve you. These factors have transformed my CHILL FACTOR which everyone can benefit from. What can you let go of? Where do you need better boundaries?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
GRATITUDE• finding joy everyday! Your energy can TRULY shift through appreciation (and dancing, duh). Write gratitude lists in a daily journal, send snail mail to pals, even just a thankful text can alter your vibration. VIBES.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
GET OUTSIDE• That Vitamin D! So dang important to get sun on your face, it has a direct correlation with mood and energy levels. I make a goal to go for a walk every-single-day even through the winter - ya just gotta wear the right gear!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sure I reach for these tools as a way to manage my symptoms, but honestly they’ll just up your feel good factor in general and who doesn’t want to feel better!

What tips have you found? I’d love to hear’em in the comments!

I practice all these habits from home, but one place we LOVE to fully immerse ourselves into wellness or have a lil’ reset is Wild Rice Retreat - our favorite Wisconsin Wellness Center! We’ve collectively done so much healing in this magical space. Seriously has become a home away from home… highly recommend a visit if you are able.

Wild Rice has been generous enough to offer our friends 10% off personal retreats with the code ‘linyage10’! Read more about our stay here…
